Meme - Music Carousel
Christine has tagged me on a meme about a subject near and dear to my heart: music! I love the power that music has to change my mood and bring up good (and sometimes bad) memories.
Total amount of music files on your computer: I've got just over 1200 songs in my Tunes library. I have about 300 CDs that I plan to rip so that I can add some of them to my newly purchased iPod (40 GB).
The last CD you bought was: Hot Fuss by The Killers (and before that, it was Vienna Teng's latest CD, which is fantastic!)
What is the song you last listened to before reading this message: Dragostea Din Tei by Ozone. I became aware of this song through the very funny video that's been circulating around the Internet lately. (If you haven't seen it, be sure to check it out!).
Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you:
There are so many songs that mean something to me, but I'll just pick the first few I think of.
Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day - For some reason, I always end up listening to this song at least once a month or so. It always makes me think about my life and all those people in my life that mean a lot to me.
Same in the End by Sublime - This song never fails to make me happy and always puts me in a dancing mood. It's a party song that will never be out of style. :)
My Immortal by Evanescence - This became popular around the time that my mother passed away. The lyrics and the sad feeling that this song has really connected me to this one. I remember that I was driving the first time I heard it, and I started crying about my mom because the song touched me so much.
I'll Be by Edwin McCain - I adore this song! I love his voice, and it's ultra romantic. I'm not an overly romantic person, but this song turns me to mush. ;)
Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler - It was on the Footloose soundtrack, and I adored that movie. I bought the record (still have it!) and used to crank up this song and dance around my room, belting out the lyrics. I was pretty young, but it was one of the first songs that I noticed a strong, powerful sounding woman singing (before then, I mostly listened to male singers).
Okay, time to let others in on the fun! I'm hoping these people will jump on the music carousel:
Shawn - He's new to the world of blogging, but definitely not new to music. He introduces me to a lot of good music, and I appreciate him expanding my horizons!
Lauren - My brother's girlfriend who works really hard, so this should provide a nice distraction (procrastination?). :)
Denise - Blog friend who really supported my other blog (I Love A Good Mystery) during the Best of Blog Awards. I've seen her adorable cats, now it's time to learn more about her musical taste!

I am so glad you played and I really like your choices. Footloose brought back some memories! I still love a lot of the 80s music.
So, what game should we play next? =)

I heard My Immortal for the first time at funeral just a couple of weeks ago - what a stiring song, it had everyone in tears. Thanks for stopping by my blog - I read yours regularly!
