Grinding...and I'm Not Talking Coffee

I went to the dentist today and found out that I have a cracked tooth. Ouch. I also found out that the crack was caused by my teeth grinding, which I do when I sleep. I need a mouthguard, but my insurance doesn't cover it, so I'm either going to have to cough up several hundred dollars or deal with eroding and cracking teeth. Not really a tough choice.

If that wasn't enough, my dental hygienist told me that I don't floss enough. Hey now, that's just rubbing salt in the wound.

You can buy one "off the rack" for much, much less. I got one at www.toothpillow.com (I think...that's the name of the product, at least) for about $20.
You heat it up to fit your mouth. Works great and is fairly comfortable!

Good luck!!

I do that too; it's starting to affect my hearing. Bleh.

Like Heidi suggested, there are inexpensive mouthguards for sports.
My mom used one as she also grinds her teeth in her sleep during stressful times.
I don't think they are quite as comfortable (as if wearing a mouthguard could ever be comfortable) though.

Good luck.
